This week was another week of scat ID and sorting. Zoe made some headway on the Google sheet she's been cataloguing everything into. On a more exciting note, we had trouble identifying a calcified particle; it was very segmented. Due to the survival of an otter's digestive system, it was too robust to be something like an annelid. When we were able to get Debbie to come examine it, she led us to the conclusion that it was likely a basket sea star appendage! Additionally, we found our first scallop fragment! We hadn't seen any in the scat before this, which makes sense since scallops are typically a deeper-water inhabiting organism.
